The Trials of CG: Lineart 2

Hi, guys! How have you all been!? I'm fine..

All right, let's cut to the chase and get on to the progress. I have been practicing, and I think I may be ready to progress on to painting. Well, just to be sure, I'll be posting these next few pictures in forums and art sites too to gather advice on how to get better or how it is already.

Oh, and it may be a little late, but AFAX has passed. This year was the bomb! There were sales of figures EVERYWHERE!! Too bad I didn't have much money to spend... Sob..

Well, I did managed to land myself a wonderfest limited edition figma, and catch the movie screening of The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya, so it wasn't that bad.

On that note, I LOVE NAGATO NOW!! SHE'S TOO CUTE IN THE MOVIE!!

~Here's my just finished piece, consisting of the cast of Cafe Lillybellium.(Minus the main character, of course.)

The Trials of CG: Lineart

Woah! How long has it been!?

...

Sorry. I was a bit caught up with... stuff... Well, I have my Pen Tablet up now, as well as OpenCanvas, the program that I will be using for most of the Art in Cafe Lillybellium.

Right, on to the real stuff. I know this may sound like me just complaining about stuff, but if possible, you could see it as a record of my journey as a CG Artist. As everyone know, a true blue VN CG Artist, a good one at that, is a bit of a rarity outside of Japan. (I think..) Well, my techniques has been polished, and now I come upon the very first step of CG Making.

Lineart.

The skeleton of the picture, you could tell whether a picture is good or bad just by looking at the lineart. Cause I have never seen a good CG with bad Lineart. And as with any beginner, this is what I am struggling with now. They can be used to match the mood of the scene, to show intensity, actions. Yes, lines are capable of more than what people expect.

From a scale of 1 to 10, the difficulty of lineart would be 9. It would most definitely fall under the category of 'Easy to pick up, Difficult to master'

Unfortunately though, the internet is currently not a good source of help for Lineart drawing, as weeks of searching left me with little to no new tips on how to do it. How does these Artists do it? How do their strokes look so soft and smooth? How does they do it with such precision and perfection? It seems I would have to figure it out myself.

And please, don't tell me it's because they used a mouse...

Currently, my strokes are hard and messy, so I'll probably be practicin for a while, so no new art will be produced. I don't know if this is a common problem for CG Artists, and I hope to conquer the techniques by next month.

Oh, and please, I beg whoever who reads this blog as a fellow CG Artist, that if you have tips or even a source I could study from, please post it in the comments or email me the info. Greatly appreciated!

A Glimpse Of The Future...

All right, now I've got most of the traditional materials as well as a scanner ready to be used. With it, though I still cannot complete the CGs, at least I'll be able to post some Lineart.

After reading a very helpful guide to making Visual Novels online, which emphasized a great deal that most groups give up or fail at their VN mainly because of one thing: Laziness. So, from now on I'll try to post more stuff about the VN whenever I can. Now to save for that Intuos 4 Tablet...

~This is a short glimpse of the main character as well as the four heroines that are set to appear in Cafe Lillybellium. This was done in quite the rush,(In school, during lesson time in fact.) so the quality of it dropped drastically, still, better than nothing, right?

Fires Rekindled!

First thing's first, whoever wrote that comment, Team Nya sincerely thank you.

Now onto the post, I have come to face many problems when developing this Visual Novel, even with the huge help the RenPy engine is providing us. Lack of numbers severely limits the speed,(cause now there's only two members in Team Nya, me, the artist and my friend, the writer) lack of resources prevents me from properly doing quality art,(I'm still a student) and alot more are expected to come.

BUT!

We are going to take it slow and steady. Hope that we finish this project!

~In the meantime, enjoy some of the new songs in the Jukebox!

~ Oh yeah, if anyone who visits this blog has a suggestion on how to improve on the design/layout, please tell me using comments! (I'm not a frequent Blogger, so not a such a good one either)

Access Denied...

Well, it's here. Cosfest 2010. Sigh. We didn't make the dateline... I wonder.. Who actually follows this blog? The development of the game? Sigh. Well nothing to do now but to continue striving for the completion of the game. I hope we can finish it by next year's Cosfest.

Oh right, tomorrow I'll be performing in the music competition, playing Melt by Supercell featuring Hatsune Miku on my Ocarina. (Argh so Nervous!)

Well, that's about it I guess...

~Still no images.(Don't Hit Me!!)

Progress At A Snail's Pace...

Hi, there.

Just here to say I'm not Dead or anything, and I haven't abandoned this Blog. Things is just going very slowly because of the to-do list pile-ling up. And because I'm having trouble drawing on my tablet( A Wacom Bamboo Fun, quite a bad model for drawing)

Not to mention I am running low on money so getting a better tablet is out of the question. So all I could do now is practice on paper. My school is also starting this month so I'll also be busy with School for the majority of my day. One thing for sure is that I will finish this VN project, It's just gonna take a longer time than I planned. Keep in mind that this is just something Team Nya is doing in our FREE TIME, we may go commercial but that all depends on whether we want it or not and how much resources were spent doing the VN.

~No images this time, Sorry!
